At each weekly game as well as regional and national tournaments,
the club has what is fondly known as 'the skunk jar.' For those of you who are not familiar with the term 'skunk,'
in cribbage it refers to the person who has lost by 31 points. The loser must then put 50 cents into the jar.
On rare occasions a person may have a double skunk, or a loss of 61 points, therefore must put $1 into the jar.
The
money that is raised is donated at the end of the season to Kimberly's Gift, a non-profit foundation that has been providing AED's to high schools in Michigan.
Since it's conception,
the club has donated $814.50 to Kimberly's Gift as of June 2009.
